Scrippet Block

Pierre Carion

Scrippet Block enables users to write screenplay content using Markdown in Fountain syntax directly within the WordPress block editor.
This plugin automatically converts the entered text into a properly formatted HTML page, adhering to industry standards for screenplays.

Features:
Fountain Syntax Support: Write your screenplay using the intuitive Fountain markup language.
Real-Time Preview: See the formatted screenplay as you type.
Easy Integration: Add the Scrippet block to any post or page.

The Fountain Markdown language was designed by John August.

What is Fountain syntax?

Fountain is a simple markup language designed for writing screenplays in plain text.
It allows writers to create properly formatted screenplays without the need for specialized software.
Scrippet leverages this syntax to make screenplay formatting easy and accessible within WordPress.

How do I add a Scrippet block to my post or page?

To add a Scrippet block, open the WordPress block editor and click on the “+” icon to add a new block.
Search for “Scrippet” in the block library, and click on it to insert it into your post or page.
You can then start writing your screenplay using Fountain syntax within the block, and the preview will render in real-time beneath the editor.

How do I get support if I encounter an issue with the plugin?

1.0.1

  • Initial release
  • All Fountain syntax elements are processed except for lyrics
  • In that version, dual dialogues are rendered as regular dialogues. Next version will address that.
  • These Fountain elements are parsed but not rendered as they are not supposed to appear in the formatted output:
    • title page
    • page break
    • sections and synopses
