ExS Modal Widget Area will add a new widget area on your ‘Appearance – Widgets’ admin screen. After that you can add a class to any of your menu item or any HTML element or provide CSS selector of any element that can be clicked to show your widgets in the modal pop-up window. It can be also auto displayed by providing timeout in the widget area settings and also can be shown only once if the appropriate Cookie ID is provided.

How can I add widgets in modal?

After plugin activation go to Appearance – Widgets screen and add your widgets to the “ExS Modal Widget Area” as any regular widget area

How can I display my widgets in modal?

  • Login into your dashboard, go to your Appearance – Widgets screen and add your widgets to the “ExS Modal Widget Area”
  • Go to Appearance – Customize – ExS Modal Widget Area to set your modal widget area settings
  • To open modal by menu item click add a custom class ‘exs-modal-activate’ to your menu item

How can I show the modal widget area by clicking on a menu item?

  • Go to Appearance – Menus
  • Add a ‘Custom Link’ with ‘#;’ URL value and any text
  • Make sure that ‘CSS Classes’ checkbox is checked into your Screen Options (see screenshots)
  • Add a custom class ‘exs-modal-activate’ to your menu item (see screenshots)

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “ExS Modal Widget Area” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found the plugin you can view details about it such as the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by clicking Install Now.

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading the plugin and uploading it to your web server via your favorite FTP application.

  • Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it
  • Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  • Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.

Getting started

Once installed:

Go to your Appearance -> Widgets admin menu and add our widgets in the ExS Modal Widget Area. After that go to your Appearance -> Customize -> ExS Modal Widget Area and set your modal widget area options
