Yes, you can use both local paths and external URLs.

My Download links 404

Download links are powered by endpoints. If you find them 404’ing, go to Settings > Permalinks and save. This will flush the permalinks and allow our endpoints to be added.

Download counts are not increasing when I download something

Admin hits are not counted, log out and try again!

Does what it said, Cheers!

Good plugin, try it.. Works great!

Does not work when wp uploads folder is on CDN

By cd1207 on August 29, 2024

The plugin seems decent and very featured.

My site is on Shifter, but even in the staging site, creating a new download results in it saving without the actual url. All downloads say "File not provided". My uploads folder is hosted on an external CDN, but I tried adding to the "Approved Paths" list as many versions of that path I can think of. There are no errors shown. I can type the URL manually, or choose from media library, or upload right in the new download page - no matter what the url never gets added to the database. Going to look for alternatives.

Sehr nützliches Plug-in

Sehr nützliches Plug-in

Easy to use, great customer support!

By tiger12341 on August 19, 2024

I have tried different plugins for document download management for my website, none of them is as simple as this one. I tried the free version to start with, it just took me less than 30 minutes to get the files upload and enabled them on my website for customers to download. During the time when I configured the plugin, I reached out to the support team, and got response within minutes even I am using the free version.

I definitely recommend this plugin to anyone who needs a simple plugin for download management, with a great support team behind the product. I will upgrade to the paid version just to support this great team

Easy to use, meets my needs, very good.

Great! Very reliable and stable!

By rcnyc on August 1, 2024

After Google Drive reset settings awhile back out of the blue, I kept getting a bujillion notifications a week from users asking me permission to download my files. Rather than go back to Google Drive or switch to another third party hosting platform, I figured it was time to have my downloads self-hosted. However, with so many downloads, I needed a manager, so picked this one. I can't speak for users wanting a more robust plugin (like for an ecommerce or subscription site), but for someone like me, Download Manager is perfect. It's also incredibly reliable and stable. It's sailed through many updates with flying colors, so no worries on that end.

Feature Rich and Fantastic Support

By velocitylabs on July 1, 2024

We needed a plugin that could both protect specific media files for specific roles as well as keep track of who was accessing those files. The Download Monitor provided that and so much more at a very reasonable price.

We had a minor issue understanding how metric tracking was working so we reached out to support for clarification. Their response was lightning fast and they worked with us both to understand how it worked and how to tweak things to make sure it performed exactly how we needed it to work for our use case.

Highly recommend this plugin!

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “Download Monitor” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found the plugin you can view details about it such as the the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by clicking Install Now.

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading the plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application.

  • Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it
  • Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  • Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.
